Who should attend

This course is designed for delegates who require an understanding of the maintenance, faulting, repair and testing procedures that apply to points fittings, fixed stretcher bars, adjustable stretcher bars, supplementary drives and detectors.

Objectives

On successful completion of the training course delegates will be able to:

  • Understand the drawings and handbooks associated with points fittings
  • Lay out parts ready for installation
  • Understand and be capable of using the correct tools for installation
  • Install components to operational specifications
  • Be capable of assisting to fault find and repair basic mechanical components
  • Understand how to gauge supplementary back drives
  • Understand the many different types of mechanical point fittings

Learning approach

30% classroom based including theory sessions using PowerPoint presentations and visual aids

70% practical sessions working on a variety of point fittings

Theory and practical assessments to verify delegates understanding.

Pre-requisites

Ideally the candidates should have attended a Basic Signalling 1 and Diagram Reading course or equivalent.
