Who should attend

This course is designed for delegates who will be involved in installing, maintaining and fault finding on HW point machines.

Objectives

On successful completion of the training course the delegates will be able to:

  • Understand and demonstrate the principle operation of the HW point machine
  • Interpret drawings, diagrams and associated documentation relevant to the installation
  • Understand the principles of HW mechanical and electrical operations
  • Correctly set out all the components and install within the relevant guidelines
  • Identify major components within a HW point machine
  • Undertake first line fault finding and maintenance of the HW point machine in accordance with the Network Rail documentation
  • Adjust and set up the HW point machine within operational parameters

Learning approach

20% theory, 80% practical providing delegates with the opportunity to dismantle and reinstall the HW point machine rods and drives.

Theory and practical assessments to verify delegates' understanding.

Pre-requisites

Ideally the candidate should have attended a Basic Signalling 2 course and have experience at reading diagrams
