Who should attend

This course is designed for delegates who will be involved in clamplock installation for point layouts and delegates whose work involves the maintenance and/or fault finding of clamplock point layouts. The course is mechanically-biased however it is anticipated the candidate has diagram reading experience.


Objectives

On successful completion of the training course the delegates will be able to:

  • Understand the drawings and handbooks associated with clamplock installation
  • Be able to layout parts ready for installation
  • Understand and be capable of using the correct tools for installation
  • Install components to operational specifications
  • Check installation works to specifications ready for testing
  • Identify major components within a clamplock mechanism
  • Understand and recall the principle operation of the clamplocks
  • Undertake first line fault finding and maintenance of the clamplock in accordance with the Network Rail documentation

Learning approach

30% classroom-based including theory sessions using PowerPoint presentations and visual aids.
70% practical sessions on a working set of clamplocks.
Theory and practical assessments to verify delegates understanding.

Pre-requisites

Ideally the candidates should have attended a Basic Signalling 2 course and Diagram Reading course or equivalent.
